Bright Horizons Eastpoint, Swords, Balgriffin & Nutgrove win All Ireland Centre of Excellence Awards in Belfast

Bright Horizon teams from four centres in Dublin won All Ireland Centre of Excellence Award from Early Childhood Ireland at a ceremony in Belfast on 24th March.  They included teams from Swords, Balgriffin, Eastpoint and Nutgrove.

The award programme acknowledges childcare providers who deliver excellent standards of care and early education in Ireland across areas such as curriculum, health, safety, hygiene, diet and nutrition and physical environment.

Irene Gunning, CEO, Early Childhood Ireland said, “Our awards are all about showcasing the best standards across the sector and we have much to be proud of.  We encourage our members to shine a light on the quality, child centred service they provide every day and, of course, it is the children who are the real winners tonight as they are on the receiving end of all this great work.  Well done to everyone involved and keep up the good work.”

Bright Horizons Creche has been named the Creche of the Year in the 2011 Maternity and Infant Awards.  Once shortlisted, Bright Horizons, were assesed on evidence relating to eight criteria areas which include curriculum, programmes and nutrition.  The judges made an unannounced visit to one of the centres, commenting:

"The first thing that strikes you... is the very warm atmosphere that is evident from the time you enter the building.  The centre displayed particular strengths in all of the areas and in particular the curriculum which is highly flexible and links to Aistear and Early Childhood Curriculum Framework."

Bright Horizons has also been recognised as one of the very Best Workplaces, by the Great Place to Work organisation.

In the greater Dublin area alone, SVP runs 33 Vincent’s charity shops in communities right across the city, where customers can access outstanding value for money in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Recently, the St Vincent de Paul shops have seen a significant drop in donations, especially clothing.  In the medium to long term, this will significantly impact on the work of the Vincent’s shops and the raising of funds for SVP generally.  So they really need your help!

You can show your support by:

  • Calling the Transport Team on 01 8198425 for an immediate collection of clothes you wish to donate.
  • Calling the Clothing Collection Team on 01 8198413. They will distribute and collect SVP clothing bags at a time and place of your choosing.
  • Drop donations directly to your local Vincent’s charity shop
  • Drop donations directly to our Mobile caravan unit located at Shopping Centres throughout the city.
  • This caravan is also available for clothing collections in other locations as requested.
